Peter's Italian Restaurant is located in Babylon, a village on Long Island near New York City that sports many Italian eateries. And you probably wouldn't eat the food, if you saw what was going on behind the scenes.Yogi, Tina and Peter's Father Before Gordon's Arrival Because the odds are that if one part of the whole operation is run poorly, in reality, the whole restaurant is run poorly. Basically, if the staff is disorganized, the building in disrepair, or the food questionable - GET OUT. Another interesting side effect of Kitchen Nightmares is the effect it may have on your restaurant observations. Those with access to BBC America may prefer to watch the original series, it's really just as compelling, without the annoyances of the American version. And, did you know, the "Coming up next …" phenomenon appears to be completely American, because that didn't happen once in the British version. Perhaps FOX thinks Americans are too stupid to understand Ramsay's accent, unless he's screaming at someone? Whatever the cause, they definitely should change this. In this original version, Ramsay himself does the voiceovers, which is a perfect fit. It's very similar, except it takes place in England. After watching this episode, we checked out an episode of the British version, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

If we're currently watching a show, do we really need a teaser to keep us around after the commercials? Does anyone watch commercials anymore anyway? Isn't that what TiVo is for? On the plus side, they don't do that at every commercial break, but still, it's too much. Why is that necessary? It's degrading and beyond annoying. Secondly, the downfall of many reality shows is the "Coming up next …" segment before a commercial break.

We're sure he's a great guy, but his voice is not a good fit for the show. First off, the voiceover announcer is very annoying.

Not only was it great advertising for the restaurant, but since they served the food at the event, it allowed people a taste of what Peter's has to offer.Ĭhef+Gordon+Ramsay+addresses+Peter+at+Peter's+Italian+restaurant+in+Babylon,+NY The series has a couple of faults, right from the start, but both could be easily fixed. In this premiere episode, Peter's sponsored a family day event for the community, which was to become a yearly event. Another interesting feature of the show is how Ramsay tries to ensure continued success by bringing the restaurant more attention than the reality show. Once Ramsay gets a grasp of the restaurant's faults, he begins to make changes to the equipment, staff, menu, management - nothing is safe from Ramsay's touch. Thus, the restaurant is struggling with more broken appliances than working (including a disgusting, leaking walk-in refrigerator). Instead of buying a new oven or other working kitchen equipment, Peter spends thousands of dollars on his clothes, jewelry, and car. As the employees already know, Peter uses the restaurant for his own personal bank account. Their parents are involved in the running of the restaurant, and Peter is involved in running the restaurant into the ground. Peter's is a family restaurant, owned by Peter's sister, Tina. Part of the problem at Peter's, it is soon discovered is, in fact, Peter. In the premiere episode of the American version, Ramsay is in Babylon, New York, at an Italian restaurant, Peter's. In both series, Ramsay travels to a struggling restaurant and has one week to try to figure out its failings, turn it around, and head it towards success. Kitchen Nightmares is based on the British series, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, which as the title suggests, also stars Ramsay.

On this new series, when Ramsay yells and the bleeping of obscenities begins, you may find yourself cheering him on or thinking, "It's about time!" That's not the Ramsay of Kitchen Nightmares.

The ads always show Ramsay, beet red and screaming at some poor, cowering contestant. Even if you've never watched Hell's Kitchen, the reality cooking show hosted by Gordon Ramsay, you probably have a pretty good idea who he is from the commercials.
